The Garden

This is not the song, The Garden by G 'n' R. Although that is a pretty good song. Nope. This post is about my garden and the massive monster growth over the past month.

This is my second garden, the first I gund straight into the ground and Trixie, our Golden Retriever decided she liked the rhubarb and it was fun to dig holes into it lol. This new garden is a raised garden and she can't reach it. Yay!

Three weeks ago I planted five tomato seeds (last year none grew in the ground level garden) but within two weeks of planting and the great and bad weather we've had, the seeds sprouted and broke ground. Then they grew and grew into this:

It looked like the Amazon (not that I've actually been there), it was busy and wild within one month. I used tripod plant holders in an effort to keep them growing upright but they grew out of it in one week. So, today, I rammed in some tall sticks and tired them up and battled with a wasp over the tomato plant's flowers.

Next to the tomatos were have chillies growing:

This is a small one. The wife picked a bunch of them earlier this afternoon.

I didn't think this job would take long but it took a good two hours in the boiling sun; mainly because I had to unties a bunch of vines and retie correctly. I did not do a great job but it is okay for my first time. Best way to learn is the hard way.

This is the end result:

Unfortunately, this little fella paid the ultimate price:

And this plant is the MASSIVE potato plant. I noticed a few weeks ago that potatoes were growing in the ground, from previously missed potatoes from last year (with were tiny). I carefully dug them up and saw one potato trying to grow in the rocky ground. I carefully replanted it in the raised garden and BANG it grew hard and fast. The thin vines became fat and thick and I believe I have a few massive potatoes waiting to be picked.
